Peaceful moment
2008.05.22
I’ve had lots of free time to kill today as most of my pupils have either been taking exams or are away on school trips. I had a couple of hours in Petersfield at lunchtime and decided to go into St. Peter’s Church in the main square with my camera. I conducted a concert in this church at very short notice back in 2001 (when our usual conductor gave himself concussion) and while I enjoyed the concert I didn’t really get much opportunity to look at the church. It was very quiet in the church today (not a soul to be seen apart from myself) so it was a haven of peace and tranquillity compared to the square outside. The church has a lovely feeling of space and light and some beautifully carved stone work which I’ve featured in this shot. I included the stained glass window which you can see in the background and I liked the hints of colour it introduced to the photo.
