St. John's Chapel

We gave a Parnassian Ensemble recital at St. John’s Chapel in Chichester today as part of the Chichester Festivities. St. John’s is a beautiful chapel, built in 1813. It is still consecrated but not used for worship these days. Instead it is used for concerts and it has the most wonderful acoustic for recorders. We perform there every summer and it’s a delightful place to play. At present the Chapel doesn’t have any heating or permanent lighting so concerts can only be held in the summer but funds are being raised to install these so hopefully in years to come the musicians of Chichester will be able to perform there all year round. The photo for today is a shot of the wonderfully ornate rose in the centre of the Chapel’s ceiling. The building was repainted a couple of years ago and the rose is still looking pristine with its white paintwork and gilding. For more information on St. John’s visit www.friends-of-stjohns.org.uk/ .
