Refraction and reflection
The idea for today’s photo came from a photography magazine I picked up a couple of weeks ago and I’ve been saving it for a grey weather day. I bought some smarties, surrounded them with a paper tube then shot them through the lid of a CD case with some droplets of glycerine on the top. I’ve not been able to get the refracted images of the smarties quite as sharply in focus as I would have liked but I can see it’s an effect I’ll try again with another subject. Once I’d got the photos on the computer I also noticed some reflections – of the window frames in my music room where I shot it. These photos also mark the 10,000th photo with my camera as I noticed the file numbers had reset to zero on my fifth frame. 10,000 shots since mid-June 2008 – one of the joys of digital photography - I certainly wouldn’t have taken that number of photos if I’d been shooting with film!
