Dreaming of sunshine

2009.07.17

It’s been a funny old day today – a little bit of sunshine one minute and bucketing, thundery rain the next so capturing any decent outdoor shots has been virtually impossible. Luckily, one of my pupils gave me some flowers as an end of term thank you present on Wednesday which included some gorgeous pink roses so decided to use them as my subject today. As well as looking beautiful they smell great too so my music room smells wonderfully fragrant at the moment. I decided to go for a super-close-up shot, concentrating on the curves of the petals. I tried this composition at f16 to keep everything in focus but decided in the end that I preferred this really dreamy shot at f2.8 with virtually everything out of focus instead!
