Details in stone

2009.07.31

This afternoon I drove north to Bishop Burton in East Yorkshire for my next course, The Recorder Summer School, which begins tomorrow. Although I’d taken plenty of photos of the NYRO students this morning I’m not able to post them here as they’re for NYRO publicity so I was still looking out for today’s Photoblog photo when I got here. After I’d unpacked I headed into Beverley in search of dinner and parked outside the church at the western end of the town. As I looked at the church I was rather taken with the detailed carvings around the door frame and wondered whether they might make a good image. I had my compact camera with me so I took a few shots and particularly liked this one for its unusual angle, looking upwards to the window above.
