Towering arches

2009.08.05

We had a free afternoon today so I took a trip into Beverley with my friend Eileen and we visited the Minster (see here for my previous visit) while we were there. I took quite a few photos but these two really caught my eye as I like the repeating patterns and the power of the architectural lines. Sadly I didn’t take my tripod with me today so these were taken as ISO 1600 – not ideal. I have some more free time tomorrow and Friday though so I can see I’ll be returning to the Minster armed with my tripod and a more sensible ISO setting on my camera to capture some more of the shapes in this wonderful building before I return home on Saturday.

Latecomer They don't seem to have suffered from the high ISO, at least at this scale. If noise becomes worrisome at larger sizes you could convert to B+W which would probably look even better anyway. Good shots.

Tats25 These aren't bad at all despite that ISO, but I will look forward to seeing the shots with tripod anyway! : )
