Most of today has been spent on the road to Lampeter in west Wales for a recorder playing day tomorrow. As I neared my destination this afternoon I spotted a collection of ten wind turbines on the hill top, several of them turning in the wind. Thinking they would be a good photographic subject I located the side turning which looked like it might lead to them and drove up the narrow, winding lane for about a mile. When I got to the top I discovered ten turbines and it was evident from the fresh excavations that they hadn’t been there very long. Having done a little research this evening I think this must be the Blaengwen wind farm which was constructed over the summer and isn’t even fully operational yet. There were wide driveways leading to each turbine so I decided to drive down one of them and park my car directly under the turbine to give some idea of the scale of them in my photos. It was the perfect afternoon - a glorious blue sky with white puffy clouds – and this set the bright white turbines off a treat. Overall I think it was a very worthwhile diversion off the beaten track!
