The weather forecast for tomorrow is torrential rain and gale force winds so I decided to make the most of the autumn colour this morning, working on the basis that by the beginning of next week all the leaves may have been blown off the trees! I drove up to Selhurst Park, an area of woodland near Goodwood, in search of some nice autumnal shades. My hopes weren’t high as I drove over the top of the hill through thick fog. However, as I dropped down the other side it cleared a little and I could see that the remaining mist was creating a nice layered effect among the trees. The leaves were all still rather greener than I’d expected but I managed to capture a mixture of colours in this shot. I was rather torn when composing it as to whether to line the edge of the frame up with the trees or the horizon as the front four trees are all decidedly wonky! Time will tell whether there’s any autumn colour left to shoot after tomorrow’s weather…
