Crooked S (theme)
For today’s ‘back alleys’ theme I immediately thought of the twitten (the Sussex name for an alleyway) which runs off one of Chichester main shopping streets. It has the name ‘Crooked S’ and I understand it is where Chichester’s slaughter houses stood during the middle ages. These days it’s just a short pathway between two shops which provides a convenient route from North Street through to St. Martin’s Street. I decided to use the twitten’s name sign as my subject, using a large aperture to blur the brick wall it is mounted on. I thought a monochrome conversion brought out the tones and textures in the brickwork best.
