God's Wonderful Railway
After my work in Bristol today I found myself at the station with half an hour to spare before my train left so I decided to find today’s photo. Bristol station was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and it’s a very handsome piece of architecture. In the underpass beneath the platforms I found a series of colourful mosaics commemorating Bristol landmarks and I particularly liked this one of Brunel himself. Up on the platform I found a reminder of the station’s past as part of the Great Western Railway (or ‘God’s Wonderful Railway’ as it was often known!) in one of the old wooden benches with the GWR initials on the legs.
