Festive zoomburst

At Christmas time the road we live in transforms from a typical suburban road into a riot of sparkling, festive colour. We were warned before we moved here that the residents had a tendency to go over the top with their Christmas lights but we still weren’t prepared for their sheer gaudiness - it’s as if each household is trying to outdo the next. We have gone for the understated look with a single neon Christmas tree in a window, although our minimalism has evidently not gone un-noticed as one of our neighbours offered us a festive snowflake to add to our display this afternoon! I wasn’t sure how I could do justice to the colourful displays so I decided to create a zoomburst from the lights in a shrub across the road from us. I set the camera to an exposure of 2 seconds and turned the zoom ring on my lens smoothly while the shutter was open. Give it a couple of weeks and this will be the only remaining evidence of Newport Drive’s double identity!
