I was casting around for a subject for today’s photo this evening when I had the bright idea of shooting this opal ring which my parents gave me for my 21st birthday. It’s been worn pretty well every day since then so it’s not looking quite as new and shiny as it used to but I still love the colours hidden in the stone. I lit it carefully from one side to bring out the wonderful blues and greens.
