I wasn’t hopeful of finding any candid people shots in Chichester today as it was so cold that everyone was going about their business as quickly as possible to keep warm. However, I knew my best chances were going to be around the Market Cross. It’s a well known meeting point in Chichester – the obvious place to meet as it provides some protection from the elements and has somewhere to sit while you wait. This chap was quietly sitting there with his lunch, completing a crossword and I liked the way he was so obviously away in a world all of his own. I stood there for what felt like an eternity, waiting for the background beyond him to clear (while trying to be subtle and inconspicuous with my SLR and largish lens!) and this was the best frame I captured. I wonder if he solved all the clues….
