My Mum and I visited Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth today for a spot of retail therapy. The weather was pretty grim so I just took my little compact camera along on the off-chance of finding something to shoot. After lunch I saw a view of the Spinnaker Tower which I’d never noticed before – looking up through the canopy around the base of the tower. The bollards I’ve included here have featured on my blog before – I like the contrast between their stark black and white paintwork and the texture of the paving and wood beneath them. I spotted the final shot as we crossed the bridge over the canal – the bolts in the wooden planks remind me of the dot-to-dot puzzles I used to do as a child. As the weather was so dreary, and all of these views were largely monochrome in any case, I thought I’d make this a black and white set to bring out the lines and textures.
