On Chesil Beach

(With apologies to Ian McEwan for pinching his title!)

I had to drive down to Plymouth today and on my way I stopped off at Chesil Beach in Dorset. Chesil Beach is a long bank of shingle which stretches along the Dorset coast and in some places it is completely cut off from the mainland. I parked up towards the western end of the beach and took a stroll. I was amazed by the power of the waves today - where I live the coast is relatively protected by the Isle of Wight so the tides are generally quite gentle by comparison. I spent a bit of time dodging the surf, capturing the water and I think the one I’ve posted here gives the best impression of the sheer dramatic power of the water. My second shot was taken from the car park where I liked the texture of the wooden fence against the blurred backdrop of the beach.

Jarvo Love the one of the wave crashing. I think b&w was exactly the right choice.
