Looking east over the Orwell
I went for a walk on the beach again before breakfast this morning in search of today’s photo. It wasn’t raining (at least not at first) but it was still pretty overcast and grey. I captured a few possible shots but kept my eyes open on my way home this afternoon for a better photo. By the time I crossed the Orwell Bridge near Ipswich the sun had come out and there were some lovely fluffy white clouds in the sky. I’ve often admired this bridge’s elegant simplicity and wondered if it would be possible to capture a photo of it. As I crossed the bridge I spotted a lay-by immediately afterwards so I pulled in, grabbed my camera and scrambled up the bank to get a better view. This was taken from a farmer’s field beside the road (luckily the fence was broken so I didn’t have to climb any further for access!) and as I started shooting the sun popped out from behind a cloud to illuminate the scene perfectly. Definitely a case of being in the right place at the right time!
