I had a pupil missing this morning as she had left school early for a holiday in Spain (lucky girl!) so I went for a wander through the Cathedral cloisters with my camera. I’ve found some intriguing old carved graffiti here before and decided to have a look for some more to shoot for today. It didn’t take long before I found the number 1946 and some letters scratched into one of the stone arches. The only problem is I now want to know why someone carved this into the cathedral stonemasonry over sixty years ago!

djnana Actually, the war in Europe was over by '45! I was born in '47 - and that carving looks and feel so ancient! Wow - I must be really old!! Wonderful clarity and texture to the shot - very poignant post, Helen. (And thanks for liking my "sparkly" deer!)
