I thought I was imagining things this morning when I heard two of our students talking about the college meerkats. Bishop Burton College is an agricultural college so there are plenty of animals on the farm here. However, it turned out to be true – they have some more exotic animals on site as part of the animal management element of the courses they run. We had a free afternoon today so decided to investigate and I wasn’t disappointed. The keeper kindly let me go inside, behind the fence, so I could get closer to them and they were wonderfully inquisitive. She explained to me that the meerkats here are all from one family – parents and two generations of offspring. The middle-sized ones were born back in March but the tiny babies are approaching their five week birthday on Friday.
I know I’m stretching today’s fences theme to breaking point with these photos but I did take them over a wall so perhaps they could just about count!!
