My hands are the tools of my trade (along with my musical instruments) so it seemed an obvious choice to use them in a musical setting for today’s hands theme. I tried various set ups (limited by my ability to keep my fingers in place on the piano keys and press the shutter button at the same time!) but I liked this one best. For those who are interested in such technicalities, I’m playing a diminished seventh chord. My harmony teacher at music college (who was quite a character) used to call this the ‘Clapham Junction’ of chords – you can go anywhere from it. I’m not entirely sure this is true of Clapham Junction railway station but it was such a good way of explaining the chord’s possibilities that I still remember the saying twenty years later!
