Thank you to everyone here on Photoblog who asked after Gracie when I posted a photo of her here
before Christmas. Since then the tests she had done in December came back inconclusively so she was referred to a vet who specialises in oncology in Surrey, about a 90 minute drive from here. We took her up there on Tuesday where they did an ultrasound and some more biopsies and kept her in for a few days. Sadly our worst fears were realised and she has been diagnosed with lymphoma, a form of cancer. Having said that, the vet was frankly amazed at how she bounced back from the sedation and settled into her new surroundings. Since Tuesday she’s been resting up and they’ve started her on chemotherapy to treat the lymphoma. So far she’s been doing well – her much enlarged spleen is now spleen sized again and she’s been eating pretty well so things are looking reasonably hopeful. We brought her home this evening with instructions to give her a steroid tablet every day (that will be a challenge!) and take her to our local vet each week for more chemo. At the moment she’s sleeping peacefully on the sofa and I couldn’t resist taking a photo to celebrate her return home as she dozed.
