Standing tall

My Mum and I went out for a spot of retail therapy this morning and on our way home we made a detour to Slindon. When I visited Slindon yesterday I spotted a stone folly in the distance which I’d never noticed before so we decided to try and figure out where it was and how to reach it. As it happens we found the right road but it was little more than a muddy track and certainly not suitable for my Mini – I can see I’ll be going back on foot, armed with wellington boots and my camera on another occasion! After that we travelled home via Goodwood and I thought the low afternoon sunshine looked rather appealing as it came through the trees in Selhurst Wood. As ever I had my camera with me so I jumped out of the car to grab a few frames. The first shot here was taken aiming towards the sun, although I had to be careful to avoid catching the sun directly in the frame. My second shot is something of an experiment. I saw an article in a magazine this week about taking photos of woodland while panning vertically to create a blurred, abstract effect. I tried a few at various shutter speeds and this one worked best for me. It may not be to everyone’s tastes but I like the warm softness of the beech leaves on the ground against the hard vertical lines.

Ryana The light and colors are very nice in this post.

But Helen, please forgive me, for the second picture made me feel like migraine is coming...

Kay I agree with Ryana, the second photo has very strange effects on me too. Not quite migraine material, but very woozy feelings. Lovely day, thank you Helen.

revenant As opposed to "sitting pretty"? I do like the clarity and proportions of the first.

????? The first is beautiful and the second is very cool. It makes me feel like when I was a child running through the woods. How are you holding up? Did the retail therapy help?
