Industrial heritage

I was immediately attracted to these wonderfully rusty saw blades.

One of several old Southdowns buses which live on site and are used to transport visitors around.

There are lots of these narrow gauge railway lines around the site. Some are still in use - luckily these particular ones are not. Just as well really as I had to kneel down on the ground in the middle of a crossing to get this!

I went with my Mum and Dad to the working museum at Amberley today, somewhere I last visited almost three years ago. The site was originally home to a chalk quarry but for many years now it has been a museum dedicated to the south’s industrial heritage. It features lots of buildings, old and new, many of which are used to show demonstrations of various crafts. I decided to restrict myself to my 30mm lens as I’ve not used it much recently and, given the overcast weather and the subjects, it seemed appropriate to convert my shots to black and white. The museum was pretty quiet today so I had plenty of opportunities to take shots at unusual angles without getting in anyone’s way and one of the museum staff even let me go behind one of the barriers to catch the rusting circular saw blades.

revenant Is this the Sigma 30? I loved that lens and wanted to find one for my daughter, but they have shot up in price.

I do like your mono treatment here.

karmankwarner I like the bw aspect as it adds to the agedness of the subject. I really like the perspective of the one with the rails.

davids Cool set - the ragged teeth of the saw blades is especially effective
