Fighting the breeze
I visited the RHS gardens at Wisley today to see how the spring flowers were coming along. The conditions this morning were perfect for flower photography in every way but one – a rather stiff breeze. As a result I had to be rather creative with my ISO and shutter speeds (the white flower here was taken at 1/3200 of a second to counteract the wind) and I had my most success in the alpine house where the plants were at least a little bit sheltered. Any trip to Wisley would not be complete without an encounter with the resident cat, Sunny, who was snoozing in one of the alpine flower beds. He was very happy to be stroked and seemed particularly keen to sit on my coat which I’d folded up and laid on the edge of the border – I guess it struck him as a somewhat more comfortable place to sleep than the gravel!
