Duckling season

Who could possibly resist a face as cute as this?!

There were two of these White Faced Whistling Ducks and they seemed pretty much inseparable. They were very happy to feed from my hand and much gentler than the Mallards.

I was pleased to get these two shots of a Coal Tit in the woodland area as they're a type of tit which doesn't visit our garden.

This Reed Warbler was singing his heart out as we floated by on the boat.....

....and this chap was using one of the islands in the reed beds to hide from the Duke of Norfolk's guns!

I returned to the Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre at Arundel today to see some of the new arrivals since I last visited in March. There were plenty of Mallard ducklings (I saw two females moving around together with 22 ducklings in tow!) but I discovered that most of the centre’s other youngsters will arrive in May – at least that gives me an excuse to go back again next month! I took a trip on a boat through the reed beds while I was there in the hope of seeing some water voles. Sadly they were all hiding from view but I did manage to catch a shot of a reed warbler which was sitting in a tree singing its heart out.

Helen, superb shots. The clarity and colors and DOF are perfect. I just love the reed Warbler. So cute. bet Lucy would love to play with the fine feathered friends!
