After a damp and windy start today things brightened up nicely so I took another short walk around the walled gardens at West Dean before left this afternoon. A visit to the glasshouses wouldn’t be complete without an encounter with Hortus, the resident cat, and she was very happy to see me when I found her curled up among the vegetables. After a brief cuddle (Hortus is very much a lap cat, despite being the garden mouser!) I continued on my way and found these some vivid orange flowers planted among the veggies. I thought they were marigolds but after consulting Wikipedia I’m not so sure now – if any of you can advise me I’d love to know their name!
