After a day spent at home catching up on admin work I popped out in the car late this afternoon to look for today’s photo. I followed my nose until I got to St. Andrew’s Church in the hamlet of West Stoke. It’s a tiny little church and I couldn’t persuade the lights to work so it was very dark too. Just as I was about to give up I noticed an ancient bible sitting on the lectern and I rather liked the light that was falling on its embroidered bookmark. With my 50mm lens wide open at f1.8 and my camera’s ISO cranked up to 6400 I managed to get a useable shutter speed and caught a few frames before leaving. I’m not usually one for selective colour in photos but it just seemed to work well on this particular image – a spot of ecclesiastical gold among the gloom.
