The hazy conditions didn't make life easy but there's something about the angle of the light on the plane that makes this shot work for me.
Kevin and I were determined to see the last remaining flying Vulcan bomber when it gave its display at Goodwood today. Unlike the Red Arrows, split second timing can’t always be relied upon with the Vulcan so I kept an eye on the Twitter feed for XH558 during the morning for updates. As soon as it was announced that the crew were aboard and had started their engines we did our own RAF type scramble into the car and headed for Goodwood! When we got there it was evident that a lot of folks had been doing the same thing and we only just managed to find a prime viewing spot on the edge of the hill among all the other plane spotters. Sadly the Vulcan’s flightpath took it around the hill rather than over the top of us (unlike the Red Arrows yesterday) so I struggled to get close enough with only 280mm of lens. However, I made the best of a bad job (with a bit of judicious cropping on the computer) and it was still well worth the effort to see it in flight again. More information about the Vulcan and the efforts to keep air airworthy can be found here.

Annbramwell Amazing aircraft, we spotted it out of the blue when we were travelling on the A1 to St Neots and it flew really low right over out car... they must have been moving it as there were no airshows on at the time, I guess we were just lucky. Sadly we had no time to photograph it. You were lucky to see it in action, and that is a great photograph... well done!
