Who’s a pretty boy then?!

"OK, go on and take my photo... if you really must!"

I had an all day rehearsal at Earnley Concourse today so I made sure I took my camera with me to try and photograph one of the resident peacocks. I wasn’t terribly hopeful initially as it rained heavily all morning. However, by the time I finished at 5pm the rain had stopped and the storm clouds had been replaced by blue sky and sunshine. I found one of the peacocks sunning himself in the central courtyard and, to my surprise, as soon as I walked outside he came trotting over to greet me. I understand that, sadly, all the peahens the concourse once had have now died and left the boys rather alone – perhaps he was just seeking out some female company, even if I am the wrong species! Whatever the reason for his friendliness he was very willing to pose and you could just see him thinking to himself, “Aren’t I a handsome chap?!” However, despite my pleading he wouldn’t give me a full demonstration of his magnificent tail feathers so I had to content myself with some portraits instead.

Helen, you have a way with your shots as well as your words! Great title and the captions are just perfect! Love the look in #2! He is "tilting" just right for my taste. I have a shot for Lucy coming up soon! Stay tuned! How is my little Lucy?

He certainly is a handsome devil, I just love those colours, I would love an evening dress in those colours, trouble is we never go anywhere that would warrant such finery!
