I couldn’t resist making one last visit to the college meerkats during my free time this afternoon. Rather than having one solitary meerkat on guard while the others foraged for food, they seemed to be working in teams today and there were always at least two standing tall on a rock or log. It was fascinating to watch their reactions as other people walked past the enclosure and I used my new 100-400mm lens to capture some of their reactions. I’ve used this lens quite a bit this week and had assumed my technique wasn’t up to scratch as I wasn’t getting images out of it quite as sharp as I’d hoped. However, today I took off the UV filter that came with it and was amazed at the difference – a great relief as I’ll be going home tomorrow, right out of each of the shop I bought it from!
