Power to the people

I began the long trek back home from summer school late this afternoon. As I neared Nottingham I could help but notice some power station cooling towers which were gently steaming in the early evening sun against a thunderous sky. As luck would have it there was an exit from the motorway there so I turned off and followed my nose for half a mile until I found a suitably high view point to stop safely. The spot where I parked up was directly underneath some power cables, stretching between a row of pylons, and I was staggered at the amount of noise the electricity made as it surged through them.

davids The light in #1 is great and you get the impression of them somehow simmering with the potential of boiling over

davids And as for the sound of the power cables... perhaps you can suggest to that Belgian composer that "Corona Discharge" might make an interesting title for his next opus :-)

????? Just curious if the cooling towers are from nuclear or other power plant?
