Kevin and I have been a whirlwind of activity in the garden today. We started by taking our frustrations out on a particularly intrusive bamboo plant which has been trying to take over the whole garden. Having hacked it down and made a start on digging out the roots (which looks like being a long job) I completely reorganised the shed while Kevin took the rubbish to the tip. After lunch we cleaned up our bikes (which live in the shed) and pumped up the tyres. It was as we were doing this that I noticed a particularly brave House Sparrow tucking into the birdfeeder on the apple tree. I refilled the feeders yesterday and noticed that he spent about twenty minutes feeding immediately afterwards. He’s evidently feeling very hungry at the moment because he was completely content to sit there noshing while we worked and I couldn’t resist capturing the moment. I can’t help but feel his tilted head and inquisitive expression seem to be saying, “Are you look at me? Aren’t I a handsome chap?!”
