Kevin performed with Friary Guildford Brass Band in Westminster Abbey Gardens at lunchtime today so I went along with him to act as the band’s official photographer once again. It was a lovely event – great weather, an eager audience and an informal atmosphere. People came and went as they wished and there were quite a number of children bobbing around on the grass in time to the music. Afterwards we went for a stroll around Westminster with Kevin’s parents to see all the popular tourist landmarks, including the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. The buildings around Parliament Square are covered in so much detailing it was hard to choose what to shoot but I found myself focussing mainly on the fabulously characterful gargoyles which look down from every corner.

All beautiful photos, but the details of the Abbey are very interesting. Especially the Gargoyle at #8. But the one that I love is #5, with musicians of the door. It has a wonderful composition, I find it very harmonic and well balanced.

What a fabulous set Helen! I think that shot #1 is so cool! Wow! Great to see your Kevin and what a great shot you got of him! Hope the rest of the group got an equally good shot taken!!!! (I'm sure they did!!!!hhahahaha)

I love the gargoyles, that place is literally dripping with beautiful carvings, no wonder you were having difficulty choosing what to photograph next... What instrument does Kevin play... my John plays trumpet in the Ampthill Junior band, not in the same league I know, but who knows, one day he may also get to play at Westminster...

Wonderful architecture and you know how to shoot it!! (Forgive me the following note, Helen, there is something that bothers me on the portrait of Kevin. The piece of green on his glasses that is to see.)
