Today’s post is dedicated to everyone who has been affected by the tragedy at the Reno Air Race yesterday.
We may not have been able to get to the Goodwood Revival today but that wasn’t going to stop us photographing the air displays. A couple of years ago Kevin and I discovered that the car park at our local Homebase store is a great vantage point, close enough to the circuit to see the aircraft clearly but far enough away to avoid the traffic queues. We popped up there this morning to see a display of five Spitfires but sadly the skies were a dull grey and the light very flat so our photos were distinctly underwhelming. After lunch I returned for a display by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight
and was much luckier – the rainclouds had largely blown through to be replaced with fluffier ones, and some sunshine. As expected, the Lancaster and two Spitfires flew right overhead four times and I was able to catch some shots where they were nicely illuminated.
