I stopped off in the village of Lacock on my way to Bath today. Lacock is a quaint little village, owned by the National Trust, and you really do feel as though you’ve stepped back in time as you walk along the narrow streets which are lined with tiny stone cottages. It’s a popular film location and has featured in many TV series and films. One of its most recent starring roles was as Godric’s Hollow in the last Harry Potter film. After a stroll around the village I visited Lacock Abbey which is best known as the place where Henry Fox Talbot developed the Calotype photographic process in 1834. I spent a happy half hour in the Abbey’s botanic garden shooting close ups of the flowers before heading into its atmospheric cloisters for some architectural photography.
