The autumnal colours have finally begun to appear in these parts over the last few days so I was determined to go back to the woods today to capture some of their shades before we have any strong winds. Thanks to the unseasonably warm spell we had at the start of the month the colours are much more vivid than usual, although sadly I didn’t have enough time to really do them justice this afternoon. My work had taken up so much of the day that the light was fading fast by the time I reached Goodwood. With luck I’ll be able to try again later in the week but at least I’ve managed to capture something of the colours. I took this using my super-wide-angle lens at 20mm and am aware of how much this makes the trees lean at the edge of the frame. I did experiment with straightening them up in Lightroom but I actually like the way they seem to pull you into the photo as they lean inwards so I left them in their original wonky state!
