A beautiful post..very touching,I have a few things from a great uncle who died on the first day of the battle of the Somme..I must try and put something together some day on here. My grandfather fought in the first world war.I remember him as an old man with a matchbox by his side..he kept a piece of shrapnel in it that had been removed from his ear..I was very very young but I knew even then he had been brave.
