I accompanied Kevin to Guildford this morning where he was playing with Friary Guildford Brass Band as part of the Remembrance Day ceremonies. The morning started with a service of remembrance in Holy Trinity Church. After the service all the dignitaries, veterans and current servicemen marched through the city to the castle, led by the band, where they laid wreaths at the war memorial. I thought it was a lovely way to remember the people who have been killed in combat while fighting for our liberty and, judging by the large crowds, the people of Guildford felt the same.

A beautiful post..very touching,I have a few things from a great uncle who died on the first day of the battle of the Somme..I must try and put something together some day on here. My grandfather fought in the first world war.I remember him as an old man with a matchbox by his side..he kept a piece of shrapnel in it that had been removed from his ear..I was very very young but I knew even then he had been brave.
