In an ideal world I would have liked to be able to shoot some of the lovely Sussex countryside for today’s ‘my part of the world’ theme during the golden hour, around sunset or sunrise. Sadly this was never going to happen thanks to my Wednesday teaching timetable and the short winter days. Instead I found myself up at Goodwood at just about the worst part of the day for landscape photography – just before midday. Not to be deterred though I took a few shots of the field behind the horse racing course with the intention of creating a panoramic image. This field has always puzzled me with its random trees and the strange patch of rough grass in the centre. Having said that, it’s the oddness of the view that makes the photo for me so I shouldn’t complain!

It's rolling fields and random trees that help to make England such a green and pleasant land... as for that patch of long grass... perhaps someone discovered some very rare orchid or other such plant growing there and have decided to leave them to grow in peace... Annbramwell · 2011-12-07: 08:07
