We’re spending Boxing Day with my parents and my Dad took great delight in showing us his newest acquisition for his woodworking workshop – a Festool Domino machine (whatever that is!) which my Mum gave him for Christmas. It struck me as a good subject for a close up photo so I borrowed Dad’s tripod and shot a few frames. While I was in the workshop my Dad suggested I also shoot one of his many planes. He’s got several of these planes, made by Karl Holtey, and they are real works of art – wonderfully sculptural and perfectly made.

The detail in #1 is simply amazing Helen! His plane designs really are works of art. I visited the site! Wow. I have always felt that tools in general are sulptural pieces, but his are so much more true works of art! Your Dad must have a nice tool collection.
