Abstract in turquoise

Having spent all today’s daylight hours doing my admin work once again I decided I wasn’t just going to cast around the house for some miscellaneous object to photograph for my daily post. Instead, inspired by some of the water droplet photos I’ve seen on PB recently, I decided to create one of my own. I tried this a few years ago and still had some glycerine in the cupboard (it’s easier to use than water for droplets as it’s thicker) so I put a couple of drops on the lid of a casserole and tried to capture reflections of objects I placed below. Sadly this didn’t work well at all – I couldn’t quite get the distances between droplets, subjects and lens quite right. In desperation I thought I grabbed a notebook which has a sparkly turquoise cover, put it underneath and found it created some wonderful abstract shapes when lit with a torch. I did consider trying to clone out the scratches from the glass of the casserole lid but rapidly reconsidered as I haven’t got the patience and my Photoshop skills are frankly not up to the task!
