The big birdwatch

"Are you looking at me?!"

Every year the RSPB organise a ‘Big Garden Birdwatch’ where members of the public watch the birds in their gardens for an hour and record how many of each species they saw. I would have taken part with the event today (as I did last year) but with all the mild weather we’ve been having lately the birds we would normally see in our garden have been almost entirely absent. I guess they must have enough natural food available so they haven’t needed our birdfeeders. Instead I decided to go to the WWT centre at Arundel for a couple of hours and see what birdlife I could photograph there. Although it’s mainly a centre for wetland birds they have a couple of areas with feeders for smaller birds and these were a hive of activity. It’s a particularly good spot for photography too as there are lots of natural looking perches around the feeders so it’s relatively easy to catch some natural looking bird portraits.

josy63 I like this very colored series, the finest details of which are visible! And I like a little bit quietly ironic glance which throws you, in the last one

SheriJ Very nice. Once a year we are asked to count the birds in our yard also. We lose count too many in our neck of the woods. What kind of birds are they? Gosh they are so colorful. Nicely done!
