Up among the chimney pots
The Northern Recorder Course has brought me up to Bawtry in South Yorkshire today. The course doesn’t begin until tomorrow but a number of us have arrived early to celebrate our friend Shirley’s ‘significant’ birthday this evening with a meal at a local hotel. After a long, wet drive, I arrived at the hotel about 5 o’clock this afternoon, checked into my room and discovered that I have a view over the chimney pots of Bawtry. It reminded me of the scene in Mary Poppins where they dance among the roof tops and it struck me that it might make a good black and white photo. Unfortunately I had to shoot this through a rather grubby double glazed window so it lacks a certain degree of crispness. However, once I’d applied a nostalgic split-tone effect it seemed to matter less!
