In search of fluffy ducklings

I haven't been able to identify this pretty little duck - if anyone knows the species please do tell me!

I found this White Faced Whistling Duck nestling contentedly on the bank of the lake.

Believe it or not this cute little cygnet will eventually become a striking Black Necked Swan.

It's never too early to go chasing stray seeds!

I always have fun shooting the smaller birds in the reserve's feeding areas. This bluetit was very puzzled by my antics.

It looks like this robin has been having a tough time chasing round after his family, judging by the state of his plumage.

For once the local nuthatch stayed still for long enough for me to catch it on camera.

Time for a rest among the Bewick's Swans.

This Greylag Goose spotted me as I peered out of a hide window....

....then decided to demonstrate his impressive wings for me!

With the prospect of some sunny weather I decided to visit the WWT reserve in Arundel today to see if I could find any cute, fluffy duckling to photograph. Sadly I found relatively few (I suspect a lot are still waiting to hatch) but I did see some adorable baby Black Necked Swans and there were quite a few Mallard ducklings around too. Blessed rather more light than I had at the WWT’s London reserve last Friday I had a much better hit rate and caught plenty of other birds on camera too, as they went about their business in the sunshine.
