The speed of light

Thanks to end of term activities I finished at school over an hour early today so I took a detour on my way home to Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth. Having failed in my mission to find some summer shoes in the sales there I turned my attention to finding today’s photo. I’ve photographed the Spinnaker Tower many times before but with a deep blue sky and some glorious sunshine I couldn’t resist shooting its strong lines once more. As I walked around the base of the tower I noticed that I was getting some lensflare from the sunshine and decided to make creative use of it, making a starburst effect by shooting with a tiny aperture.

lookagain Looks like a message of light from above :))) Wow, very cool shot, Helen! I love to try to capture such flares...but it's not always easy!

stormfish this is beautifully constructed - i like how the light beam sort of "splits" into the little column structures of the bridge :-)

djnana Very pleasing to the eye, Helen. I like the water the light forms prisms on the underneath the circular formations on the building. Beautiful composed and presented.
