The Tuesday Inspiration: Too much rain!

2012.07.10

The poppies in our garden haven’t done so well this summer and the ones which have managed to flower have been pretty well battered into submission by the copious amounts of rain we’ve been had recently – as you can see from this stray petal I found on the patio this afternoon, complete with water droplets. The forecasters keep telling us that these inclement conditions are due to the Jet Stream travelling further north than usual this year, resulting in some parts of the UK receiving several months-worth of rain in a matter of days and leaving large chunks of the US melting in searing hot conditions. Sadly it looks like we’re stuck with the Jet Stream being off course for some time yet which means very changeable conditions for at least the rest of the month - oh joy! However, it’s always said that the British like nothing better than to talk about the TI so at least no one will be lost for conversation over the coming weeks...

Thanks to Oscar for setting today’s theme. Last Tuesday’s theme was ‘earth’. The other interpretations of this week’s theme can be found here.

The “Tuesday Inspiration” began in 2009 when Stéfan and I started setting each other a photographic challenge on a… Tuesday. Very soon afterwards, we decided to open this up to other PB members, followed by the idea that we should not reveal what the subject is, so that other members could compare how different members view a single theme. The Tuesday Inspiration is not a contest or a challenge, but a group of people all agreeing to post their interpretation of a single theme on Tuesdays. Each week, one of the contributors sets the theme. There are now over 40 members contributing to the TI. We have only two “rules”: don’t include the subject in the TI title or tags and please comply with standard PB guidelines on courtesy, etc. If you would like to take part, please send me a message via this blog.
