As I walked around the campus this afternoon, taking photos of the course, I spotted some beautiful cosmos flowers in one of the flower beds. There was barely a whisper of wind so it seemed the perfect moment to try and capture them on camera while they were stationery. Many of the best specimens were right in the centre of the bed and were out of reach of my lens (aren’t they always?!) but this rather pretty specimen was just close enough to the edge for me to be able to capture it without falling in!

Cosmos are one of my favourite flowers ever, they grow wild in South Africa and in the right season you get whole fields of them which are a blaze of white, pink and purple and are absolutely gorgeous...
