September 14, 2007. They were watching us that night. Some say they saw them flying over.
Hundreds of reports were filed. Hundreds of reports were dismissed as prank phone calls or sun flares. The authorities did not want to cause mass panic amid the populace.
Imminent. They were here.
September 15th... We should have been more prepared.
They'd been here for years. Hiding amongst us. They put their markings in plain site to signal their force.
And we never saw them coming. The blinding force of the invasion began.
We were helpless. Shell-shocked. Trembling. With no defense.
Millions instantly vanished. Millions.
If you ran, you suffered.
The politicians, the military, the scientific community... stunned. And they too trembled.
No barrier too strong. They would find you no matter were you were.
All I remember is their eyes.
And the blinding light inside the spaceships.
The burn of the light.
The pain.
So intense.... the peak moment of a star gone nova.
And then as the light lifted. Silence. In a moment they vanished.
Deafening silence.
And now. January 2008. I think. Only a few thousand humans were left to live. Left with little evidence of the invasion. In the tunnels, where the hardest battles were fought, there are invader victory markings. We've been left in the silence. Left virtually alone. No power. No food. Just hope. And hope is fading.
