While I was sure it was gonna rain on me, as it had been doing for the last 2 weeks, I decided I was going to endure it and go on my Saturday hike anyway. I got up and got to my preferred start location only to find that I had company. Bizarre company. I could hear them clearing limbs in the distance, so I just went on with my day.

Look hard and you can see the dear. He never saw me, but making noise as I slogged through the trail was unavoidable.

Most of the trail was under water, a fact which I didn't mind so much in and of itself, but you have to be very careful of snakes. My camera arm wasn't good enough, but I came about 14 inches from stepping on a moccasin as it swam through the trail. Luckily I was making enough noise that I had already scared it off. The overcast day made it very hard to see through the water too.

So KEVIN decided to redirect me from Tim's house to IHOP for lunch, and while trying to take the short way, this is what happened. Notice the garbage bin? Without a car sticking out of it, it looks like a totally shallow puddle.

When the tow truck finally pulled me out, the ground was all torn up. Also, while I was sitting there, with the tow truck attached to me, 2 people barreled off into the puddle and bottomed out their cars, though they had enough momentum to make it through. I felt less stupid.
