Septemvri-Dobrinishte narrowgauge railroad
2008.07.30
Septemvri-Dobrinishte narrowgauge railroad is the last narrowgauge railroad in Bulgaria (Gauge is 760mm).The Septemvri-Dobrinishte railway is opened before almost a hundred years age, and is still running, several times a day every single day. The line is long 106 km and is one of the most beautiful scenic railroads in Bulgaria. There are 35 tunnels among the railroad, and also the highest train-station on the Balkan peninsula is found here - Avramovi Kolibi station located at 1267 meters above the sea level. You can imagine how steep the train goes, as it starts near 200 meters above sea level at the town of Septemvri train-station! This railroad is considered one of the most-beautifull in the world. And the ticket for a round trip costs about just 3 £. Unfortunately I travelled during the night:)))
