Unpacking. My suitcase exploded. 5 weeks of stuff is a lot to bring home!

Pulling an all-night so you don't fall asleep and miss your flight out of the country is not the smartest idea when you will travel for 26+ hours. Yet it sure was fun. Leaving at 6:00 am Thessaloniki, Greece time to head off for the airport allowed me to watch the sunrise for the second time in one week. Little did I know, I would have a huge fiasco at the airport with checking in. Obviously all worked out! My travel path was Thessaloniki to Munich, Munich to Chicago-O'Hare with large customs line and rechecking my luggage, and ending with O'Hare to St. Louis.

My lovely parents were naturally the first people in line to greet the arriving travelers in the exact same spot where I said goodbye. How cool. I also didn't shed a tear, my eyes and mind was still in disbelief that I just left the most amazing experience of my life. My luggage made it safely with nothing broken. Amazing considering I brought home 3 bottles of wine as gifts. I was very fortunate for all my safe travels and luck, considering how the trip over went. The night ended with a giant burger from Ruby Tuesdays (!) and sleep on the drive back home. Home. What a weird thought considering I had called my flat in Thessaloniki home since the first week there.

All in all, my study abroad experience in Thessaloniki was something I hope to never forget. I experience some pretty awesome thing, ate weird but delicious food, and learned lifelong lessons. I'm very fortunate and blessed to have enjoyed my experience as much as I did. I know that in my future I WILL be returning to Thessaloniki and Greece. Ya Mas and Ya Sas! Thank you for all who supported, read, and told me how much they enjoyed my blog. It was great to be able to share this experience with all of you.
