On the way up to Taos We stayed at my ex-bosses home for the night. He now lives on a mesa just outside Santa Fe. We ate at a great local restaurant and caught up on old times.

View from my friends home overlooks indian land.

My friend is an accomplished artist and keeps him self busy with large outdoor architecture and art projects. The sculpture shown here he completed over 10 years ago when I worked for him.
We got to the ski area mid week with perfect snow and no crowds.
Taos is considered a fairly challenging ski area but also has plenty of easy runs for people like me.
On my second day I took a group lesson but had only one other student in the class. She was from Arizona very close to where I grew up. Here she is drinking from the "Martini Tree" hidden on the slopes. Our instructor honored us with a shot on our final run down the hill. This tradition commemorates a true but funny incident that took place when the resort was new.
After skiing on my last day I took a half day trip to see the "Earth Ship" community which lives completely off grid by using plentiful sun and wind. On the way I crossed over the Rio Grand and took this shot.

One night we had the chance to enjoy a 6 course meal with a different Chilean wine with each plate. What an amazing meal....I wish I could remember more of it... (:
